Direct from England, a striking antique slant front piece with bold Jacobean carved detail and beautiful tiger oak grain.

The large slant front features a wide band of bold geometric strapwork carving, with a raised edge to the front for supporting documents when in use.  At the back, a carved gallery frames the cabinet top display area.

The fitted interior is both ornate and functional, with three carved front drawers over two open cubbyholes set above a scalloped carved apron, offering generous, well-designed storage.

Abundant carvings continue throughout, with more carved geometric strapwork designs across the wide front panel and foliate scroll carvings to the drawer front below.  Both cabinet sides are also fully carved with a bold Gothic tracery design, adding significant depth and a strong sense of quality.

Well built by craftsmen of the period; upper section circa 1890, raised on a later English oak base.  Ideal for an entry, hallway or study, and equally appealing as a distinctive slant-front display, ideal for showcasing a favorite book or family Bible.

Measurements:  39.5” Height x 23.5” Width x 17.5” Depth.  Base only, 26.5” ht. x 23” x 17.5”.

Condition:  This item is in very good condition with normal signs of age and use, dings, scratches, imperfections, old ink stains, age-related crack to interior bottom, no key.  Upper cabinet slides onto base.  The accompanying photographs are considered an integral part of the description.
