Antique French Hunt Cabinet Bookcase Barley Twist Black Forest Carved Baroque.

Direct from France, a superb, hand carved antique “Hunt Cabinet”/bookcase, very tall and majestic (over 7 ft. height), with lavish and highly sought after Black Forest/hunt carvings throughout!

Some of these carvings include:

 Upper crown with a large dimensional carved mask, flanked by birds perched on carved twigs; upper door panel with carved wine barrel and fruits/foliate, below carved French ribbon; lower door panel with carved fowl “fruits of the hunt” surrounded by foliage, with carved ribbon above.  Also note large carved serpent supports to the center, carved lion mask drawer handle amidst carved foliage, and detailed carved designs on the center back shelf.

Tall, barley twist columns flank both the upper cabinet and the lower cabinet, further defining the height and completing this “pièce de ré·sis·tance” for any home!!!

Quality throughout with dovetailed drawer; well built by craftsmen of the period, circa1880.

Measurements:  87.25” ht.  x 33.5” x 22.5”.  The lower cabinet is 37.5”ht x 33.5” x 22.5”; the middle carved lion shelf is 13.5” ht. x 27” x 15”; the upper cabinet is 37”ht. x 33” x 17”.

Condition:  This item is in good condition with normal signs of age and imperfections.  Key included, but old locks are not guaranteed.
