Antique French Vineyard Grape Hod Wine Bucket Chateau Margaux Winery Floral Urn
Antique French Vineyard Grape Hod Wine Bucket Chateau Margaux Winery Floral Urn.
Direct from France, a wonderful antique metal grape hod or “hotte”, with stunning hand painted French designed artwork. In the 19th century French vineyards, these galvanized metal hods were worn on the backs of grape pickers as they were working the fields, hand harvesting the grapes. Of course, grapes are now picked mechanically, so these old hods are more difficult to find.
Before leaving France, artists in the Bordeaux region hand paint our hods; this design is from Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry, a Margaux property in Bordeaux, France, and includes standing lions and a center shield, with the motto “Semper Adaltum”, which appears on the label of each bottle of wine produced!!
Excellent attention to details by the artist, original construction, classic French style and a sophisticated, relevant addition to today’s home, from hanging on a kitchen wall, filled with dry flowers…to standing in the foyer as an umbrella stand…decorating an outside patio table…and, of course, in a dining room or wine cellar!!
