Antique French Renaissance Chest Box on Stand Breton Brittany Oak Barley Twist.

Direct from the Brittany region of France, a finely hand carved chest/box on stand, a fine conversation piece for any home, and imagine it, with a liner as wine cooler or even for plants or floral arrangements!!

Each side has unique carved Breton scene panels with men playing musical instruments and people enjoying brews in a pub, both flanked by dimensional Renaissance characters!

The ornate carvings are included on both side panels, with lower carved trim as well as four barley twist legs.  With carvings on all sides, there’s no ‘backside’ so the chest is perfect for use in the center of a room.

This chest is an excellent example of superb carvings skills, with the style and design true to the Celtic roots of the Brittany region of France; probably created a master carver in the late 1800s.

Measurements:  34.5” ht.  x 23” x 15.75”.  Chest without lid, 30.75” ht.  Interior dimensions, 10.5” ht. x 19.5” x 12.25”.
