Antique English Dart Game Trophy Award Shield Oak Plaque Silver Plate c1909.

Direct from England, just arrived in our most recent container, we have several of these one-of-a-kind English trophies that are brimming with provenance, and oh “the stories they could tell”!

This large oak shield trophy is highly engraved, with descriptive plaque at the top, as follows:

Originally “The Manchester United Darts Shield”.  Won outright by the York Minster -Hulme.  Winners 1909-10, 1910-11, 1911-12.  Presented in its present form to Salford Royal Hosp. League.  By A. Pemberton, Cumberland Arms -1944

The large silver plate shield is engraved “SALFORD ROYAL HOSPITAL DART THROWING LEAGUE 1944”, over a large oval with etched scene depicting men competing in a dart game!

Surrounding the oval dart scene, ten different annual winner’s names engraved on individual banners:  “Prince of Wales”, 1944-45; 1945-46; 1947-48.  Angel Hotel, 1948-49.  Fox Tavern, 1949-50; 1951-52; 1953-54.  Cross Keys, 1952-53; 1954-55.  Irwell Castle, 1950-51.

To the lower portion, the following engraving:

Measurements:  38” ht.  x 21” x 7”.
