Antique English Cricket Table Hexagon Carved Oak End Side Table Arts and Crafts

$ 725.00

Antique English Cricket Table Hexagon Carved Oak End Side Table Arts & Crafts.

Direct from England, a charming and quite unique antique English “cricket” table.

“Cricket tables” originated in England and remain one of Britain’s most popular and practical pieces of furniture today! The term ‘cricket table’ refers to a country table with three legs and typically a round or hexagonal top.  The three-legged design allowed the table to rest with stability on uneven dirt and floors, and it’s believed they were called ‘cricket’ tables as they were often used outdoors for spectators at cricket matches.

This cricket table has fabulous carved designs across the thick six-sided ‘hexagon’ shape top, with three long turned legs and a lower triangular shelf for more display and storage.

A unique table and lovely addition that compliments any décor; well built by craftsmen of the period, circa 1920.  (Note the carved spinning chair shown in some photos is sold separately)
