19th century French Carved Wine Cellarette Cabinet Black Forest Chest Hog Boar.
Direct from France, a beautiful 19th century chest, heavily carved, most probably originally used as a wine cellarette.
Fully carved cabinet top with carved lunette beveled edges, over a cabinet adorned with carvings on all three sides!
Barley twist posts to each side of the front, with raised carved moulding framing the large center panel.
Carved foliage surrounds the large, dimensionally carved boar’s head, obviously by a Black Forest style master carver, note the carved details to the hair, eyes, ear, even the snout!
Further carvings to each side panel complete the cabinet artwork.
Hand carved by craftsmen of the period, circa1890.
Measurements: 30” ht. x 30” x 16.5”.
