Direct from France, a rare and gorgeous 19th century antique French majolica jardinière or cache pot!
This unique and quite whimsical design features four different insects in marching poses playing various musical instruments, all meticulous hand painted in various colours including aqua, blues, browns, yellows, grays and orange.
The creamy beige basketweave background is further embellished with colorful leaves and floral designs around the marching band of insects!
Large scroll base hand painted in shades of green and browns, and beautiful red flower handles on either side! The rich pale blue interior and whimsical figures are of the Onnaing style, circa1890.
Measurements: 8” ht. x 14.25” x 8.5”.
